Meet Azure

Azure is a native of Flint, MI, who resides in Dallas, TX, with her husband, son, dog, and a Betta fish, Reggie McFish. Azure has been writing since she was a child. She was, by no means, what she would consider a prodigy, but she states that passion for the written word always resonated within her. She loves literature, including reading, writing and analyzing it. Azure often states, “Writing is a process that humbles you, but it also sharpens your experience. You can be talented, which I am, but many people are talented writers. Talent usually comes down to one question: What are you going to do with it?”

Having taught thousands of college students in literature and writing courses, Azure credits her focus and talents on her students. “I have had the pleasure and privilege of teaching people from all walks of life; several of them have been former prisoners who opened my eyes to injustices, which further inspired the passion I have for providing a voice for people who are often unheard.”

Azure’s work has appeared or is forthcoming in more than two dozen publications. She was a finalist for the New Millennium Writings 49th Writing Award and the 2021 Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Competition. She placed 3rd in the Writers of the Future Contest, volume 38, and has acquired status as a resident artist for the Marble House Project and the Santa Fe Art Institute.

She invites all to explore her writing through links found under publications, and to reach out via the contact form.
