Meet Azure

Azure is a native of Flint, MI, who resides in Dallas, TX, with her husband, son and beloved pets, a dog, River, and a Betta fish, Reggie McFish. Her passion for the written word has been a lifelong journey, starting from childhood and evolving through years of dedication to her craft.

Having taught thousands of college students in literature and writing courses, Azure credits her focus and talents to them. Her experiences with diverse students, including former prisoners, have deepened her commitment and passion to giving voice to the unheard and addressing social injustices through her work.

Azure’s writing has garnered recognition in numerous publications and competitions. She was a finalist for the New Millennium Writings 49th Writing Award and the 2021 Tennessee Williams and New Orleans Competition. Additionally, she secured third place in the Writers of the Future Contest, volume 38, and has been selected as a resident artist for both the Marble House Project and the Santa Fe Art Institute, and a scholarship recipient for Superstars Writing Seminar.

“Writing is a process that humbles you, but it also sharpens your experience,” Azure often says. “You can be talented, but many people are talented. Talent usually comes down to one question: What are you going to do with it?”

Azure invites readers to explore her writing through links found under publications, and to reach out via the contact form.
